Inspector general of police (Western Range) I M Prasad said that the men arrested were Rafiq from Buntwal and Fakir Bawa from Malur. The two were arrested in their respective home towns which are close to Mangalore.

Two persons have been arrested in connection with the abduction of the daughter of a Kerala Member of Legislative Assembly and her male friend from a bus in Mangalore. Police have identified four persons who were believed to be involved in the kidnapping, Western Range Inspector General of Police A M Prasad said.

Bajrang Dal Karnataka unit convener Mahendra Kumar was arrested in Mangalore on Friday night.He has been held under Sections 153 A and 120 B. The police have taken suo motu congnisance in this case. The Bajrang Dal has been allegedly responsible for the wave of violence that rocked Mangalore recently. Kumar has been in the news for speaking out against forcible conversions.
